Medical field offers EB-5 investment opportunities
When thinking about EB-5 investment opportunities, foreign nationals may want to consider investing in an industry that is durable and can withstand any economic crisis. One such area is the medical field.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) website lists 11 EB-5 regional centers that specialize in the medical industry. The involvement of these EB-5 regional centers ranges from the construction of medical offices to the development of medical technology to providing facilities for mobile medical services.
The EB-5 visa program was created in 1990 to help U.S. businesses secure foreign capital in exchange for an opportunity to become eligible for green cards. Specifically, if a foreigner invests $1 million (or $500,000 in some areas) in an American business and that investment leads to the creation or preservation of 10 jobs he or she becomes eligible for a U.S. green card.
EB-5 regional centers were created shortly after the EB-5 visa program to help manage and direct the investments.
Investing in the medical field makes sense, as people will always need to see doctors regardless of the shape of the economy.
