Warehouses present EB-5 investment opportunity
When foreign nationals are considering an EB-5 investment opportunity they may want to think about what sort of industry in which they want to get involved. There are virtually no restrictions on the types of businesses for participants in the EB-5 visa program can invest so there is a wide array of choices.
One industry that EB-5 investors may want to consider is the warehouse industry. Regardless of the economic climate, businesses will need a place to store their goods. According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), there are 21 EB-5 regional centers that list warehouses and warehousing as their focused industries, giving foreign nationals an opportunity to invest in the industry from Washington state to Florida.
The EB-5 investment program allows foreigners a chance to become eligible for U.S. green cards. If they invest $1 million (or in some specially designated areas $500,000) and that investment leads to the creation or preservation of 10 jobs, the investor becomes green card eligible.
EB-5 regional centers help to direct and manage EB-5 investments. They can be “any economic unit, public or private, which is involved with the promotion of economic growth, improved regional productivity, job creation, and increased domestic capital investment,” according to the USCIS website.
