Who usually applies for an EB-5 Visa?
On an almost daily basis our office gets contacted by people from around the world who are looking to immigrate to the United
States in the hopes of obtaining Permanent Residency. Some of these people may already live in the United States under another Visa such as an L1, H1-B, E2 or perhaps even an F1 Student Visa.
It is important to remember that to apply for the EB-5 Visa the foreign national will need to make an investment into a Government approved EB-5 Regional Center in the amount of at least $500,000 USD (if located in an area of high unemployment) or $1,000,000 USD. Any foreigner who meets USCIS’s requirements is able to apply for the EB-5 Visa.
Since 2008 Exclusive Visas has assisted clients from 22 different countries to participate in the EB-5 program. Some who simply wish to retire in the United States and take advantage of great weather, low cost of living, excellent medical care and what is often a more favorable tax structure than in their home country.
Another example of clients we have assisted are students who are in the United States under a F-1 visa currently attending school and upon graduation would like to remain in the America to pursue their career, for many under the F-1 or M-1 visa this is not possible without the participation in this program. These students typically show interest in the EB-5 program because it will allow them to become a permanent resident and they can then study or work as they please. These are just a few of the examples of reasons why some people may choose to pursue the EB-5 Visa.
