California development corporation lists investment through EB-5 visa program as goal
At the recent Needles, California Economic Development Corporation meeting, president Brad Hoover invited a number of business owners to share their thoughts and opinions on attracting business to the area, the Mohave Daily News reports.
"They're not talkers," he said. "They're doers."
At the meeting, Hoover explained that it was important for the Needles community to emphasize the advantages of Interstate 40, Needles airport, the Colorado River and the railroad in order to attract business to the area.
According to the news provider, one strategy discussed that would bring foreign investment to the community was the use of the federal EB-5 visa program. Through this program, foreign nationals can obtain U.S. green card eligibility if they invest $1 million (or in some areas $500,000) in an American project or company that either creates or maintains at least 10 full-time jobs.
Hoover explained that in order to attract foreign business and accomplish other economic goals, the community needed to put the right people in place and form committees and subcommittees to ensure that such goals would be accomplished.
