Chinese commission to review EB-5 investment opportunities in Vermont
The Vermont Chamber of Commerce will host a commission of Chinese business owners and government officials to educate them about the EB-5 visa program and other ways to invest in Vermont companies.
In total, nine owners of small- and medium-sized firms and three government officials from Shanghai will arrive next week to explore business partnerships and investment opportunities in the Green Mountain State, the Burlington Free Press reports.
The representatives of China, who were invited to the Vermont Chamber of Commerce through the agency’s Shanghai trade office, will make a stop at the Snow Farm Winery in South Hero to assess the EB-5 investment opportunity.
“By fostering these ongoing relationships with the international community, we are developing a strong brand for Vermont in China’s east coast cities that will enable many of our small businesses like Snow Farm Winery to expand the sale of their products into the Asian market,” Chris Barbieri, director of the Vermont Chamber’s Asia Division, told the news source.
The EB-5 visa program will be of particular interest during the discussions, as Vermont businesses have successfully used the program in the past to fund development projects, and foreign investors benefit from the arrangement by receiving access to U.S. residency and citizenship.
