County places ad seeking foreign, EB-5 investors
A California county that participates in the EB-5 visa program will use a newspaper advertisement to help it attract foreign investors.
Riverside County will place an ad in the Washington Diplomat, which is a newspaper read by foreign officials around the globe, according to the Valley News.
"It is the first targeted ad [the] Economic Development Agency has used to specifically reach international leaders to promote the county of Riverside as a destination for international business," county Foreign Trade Commissioner Tom Freeman told the news source.
The ad, which will cost the county $2,500, will tout the area's three foreign trade zones, 1,300 manufacturing facilities and 1,200 farming operations, reports the news provider.
Riverside County has been seeking investors under the EB-5 visa program, which gives foreign nationals a chance to earn U.S. green cards. If a foreign national invests $1 million (or in some areas, $500,000) in an American business and 10 jobs are created or preserved as a result of the investment, the foreigner becomes green card eligible.
