Developer: Proposed Vermont EB-5 project won’t pollute
The developer of a proposed biomass facility that intends to be funded through the EB-5 visa program recently said that the plant won’t pollute the area.
Speaking to the Bennington Banner, Thomas Emero, managing director of development and operations for Beaver Wood Energy, said that the 29-megawatt biomass/wood pellet facility would be technologically advanced.
“This plant will have by far the most sophisticated pollution control equipment of any wood fired power plant in New England,” he told the news source. “It will meet and exceed all of the state’s standards for air emissions.”
Emero and his associates are hoping to fund the project by forming an EB-5 regional center and participate in the EB-5 visa program.
The EB-5 visa program allows foreign investors to earn U.S. green cards if they invest $1 million (or in some specially designated areas, $500,000) in an American business and that investment results in the creation or preservation of 10 jobs.
EB-5 regional centers help to direct and manage such foreign investments.
Emero told the news provider that the plant would use 330,000 tons of wood per year.
