What EB-5 Regional Centers Have Approved I-829s?

Every EB-5 investor is looking for a safe project to invest in. Very often we are asked if there are Regional Centers that have I-829s approved. It is not surprising why investors pay so much attention to this fact.

Various EB-5 Regional Centers, when marketing their projects claim that they either already have I-829 approvals, or they have 100% of I-526 approvals, or hundreds of EB-5 visa applications filed through their projects were approved already. However, there is no real statistics gathered. According to some sources currently there are only half a dozen Regional Centers that have approved I-829s, which is much less than the amount of Regional Centers claiming to have achieved this goal.

Moreover, even if we consider that those claims are true, they should not be the primary consideration for the EB-5 investor looking for their EB-5 visa application to be approved.

No doubt, it is good to know that the Regional Center has met the EB-5 visa requirements and has I-829′s approved. That means that such EB-5 Regional Center has been operating more than three years and has proven job creation in the past.

However, the EB-5 investor should not base his/her decision strictly on the past achievements of an EB-5 Regional Center. There are many other vital due diligence issues to consider.

First of all, it is important for the investor to understand that the EB-5 Regional Center and the EB-5 Project are two independent entities. Therefore, the success of the EB-5 project that particular Regional Center has represented in the past does not necessarily guarantee the next EB-5 projects to have the same success.

It is more important to concentrate on the present and future of the EB-5 Regional Center and the projects that this Regional Center is now promoting. For example, in order to have EB-5 conditional green card’s approved and have conditions removed after 2 years the investor should analyze the Project’s documentation and see if it is able to create the amount of jobs necessary according to EB-5 visa requirements. There are many other requirements like this that the project has to meet.
