Is the EB-5 Visa a Good Option for Retirement?
Because the EB-5 Regional Center program meets the needs of many foreigners who want to retire in the U.S., many refer to the program as the “Retiree Visa”. We have consulted several EB-5 investors who chose this program specifically because they wanted to retire in the United States.
Why the EB-5 Visa and not any other visa? Unfortunately, a working visa or a visa based on employment is not an option for people who want to retire and live in the U.S. permanently. Often having the option not to work while in the U.S. is a great benefit to many considering immigration. They can however, apply for a green card if they have a spouse who is a U.S. Citizen or children over 21 years of age who are U.S. Citizens. The other option is applying for a green card through another family member, such as a sister or parent who is a U.S. Citizen, the only inconvenience here is that due to quotas the wait can be five years and in some extreme cases much longer than 10 years and this just may be too long of a time frame for many who would like to retire to the United States within the next year and enjoy a more relaxing lifestyle.
Through the EB-5 Regional Center Program, the retiree will have the ability to work or not work if they desire, to live anywhere in the United States, to travel in and out of the country whenever they wish along with several other liberties.
