EB-5 visa program gives U.S. investment opportunities to Indians
The recent economic crisis in the U.S. has led to a more favorable environment for overseas investments, especially in the real estate sector, according to Gregory Solomos, the senior vice president of a real estate company in Louisville, Kentucky.
Solomos was invited to speak about emerging business opportunities in the U.S. at the Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry in India recently, according to the Hindu.
According to Solomos, in the present economic climate, U.S. investors are hesitant but funding demand remains great, meaning the EB-5 visa program can give Indian investors an excellent opportunity to reach the American markets.
The EB-5 visa program allows foreigners to receive U.S. green card eligibility if they invest $1 million (or in some target areas $500,000) in projects in the U.S. that either create or maintain at least 10 full-time jobs.
EB-5 regional centers can help to direct and manage these investments and, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) the centers can be "any economic unit, public or private, which is involved with the promotion of economic growth, improved regional productivity, job creation, and increased domestic capital investment."
