How to qualify for EB-5 visa program through creation of new business enterpriseCreating a new commercial enterprise is one way that foreigners can utilize the EB-5 visa program to obtain U.S. green card eligibility, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

In order to qualify in this instance, one must invest or be in the process of investing at least $1 million in the business. However, if the investment is made in a designated targeted employment area, the minimum investment requirement is only $500,000.

According to the USCIS, a targeted employment area is defined by law as "a rural area or an area that has experienced high unemployment of at least 150 percent of the national average."

The next step for qualifying for green card eligibility through the EB-5 program is to benefit the U.S. economy by providing services or goods to markets in the country and creating full-time employment for at least 10 workers. These workers can include any person who is lawfully authorized to work in the country, according to the USCIS.

Finally, investors are required to be involved in the everyday management of the business or as a board member or corporate officer.
