USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) has recently released an update on the processing times for I-526 petitions.

The I-526 form, also known as Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur, is the initial petition filed by an EB-5 investor for his or her green card.

In the past, USCIS took an average of 6 to 9 months in processing those petitions, but lately it has been taking much longer.

The latest update provided by USCIS shows a current processing time of approximately 16 months. Petitions submitted on March 16, 2012 were being reviewed as of July 31, 2013.
