Vermont governor returns from EB-5 trip to Asia
Douglas described the trip as a "fruitful venture," reports WCAX. The governor, along with a number of other Representatives from private and public entities, spent about two weeks in Asia.
Douglas said that the full impact of the trip might not be felt immediately.
"The initial contact with a prospective investor doesn't immediately result in all cases in a commitment, but I know we got at least a couple of dozen commitments at the half million dollar level and I expect that will continue to grow over the coming weeks and months," he told the news source.
The EB-5 visa program was started in 1990 to help foreign nationals attract foreign investors. If a foreigner invests $1 million (or in some specially designated areas, $500,000) in an American business and that investment results in the creation or preservation of 10 jobs, the investor and his family become eligible for U.S. green cards.
