Approved by Congress in 1990, the Immigrant Investor Pilot Program is proven to be one of the fast routes to permanent U.S. residence with the issue of an EB-5 visa. The EB-5 investment visa pilot program has become a viable option for immigrants who have yet to find a visa suitable to their needs.

Under the EB-5 pilot program, eligible immigrants receive green cards for themselves, their spouse, and their unmarried children under the age of 21 in return for investing at least $500,000 into an approved business or commercial enterprise. The main requirement is that the investment must create or save at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers.

Investors have a choice of over 100 approved regional centers which vary in types of business including farms, resorts, restaurants, conference centers, even breweries. However, not all approved Regional Centers are developed the same way which means some centers are more proven than others. For an investor, choosing the EB-5 project is the most crucial part of the whole process.

There is considerable importance placed on this particular visa program by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as an excellent method of obtaining investment in America and creating employment. At a time when the U.S. is coming out of recession, the requirement of the program for 10 jobs to be created per investor adds numerous jobs to areas in need, especially since most approved EB-5 projects are located in high unemployment and/or rural areas. There are 10,000 EB-5 visas available per year and there is no waiting list or quota which makes the EB-5 stand out amongst the other visa options.
