Baseball manager LaRussa clarifies Arizona immigration remarksSt. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa is famous for his belief that he can outsmart any other manager in baseball, however, he may have outsmarted himself when his comments about Arizona’s controversial immigration law got him in a bit of hot water with the press.

LaRussa had been asked about the law while his team was playing the Arizona Diamondbacks, when he said he supported the law, according to MLB.com. The St. Louis skipper backtracked on his comments, saying that his stance was more about state’s rights.

“It has nothing to do with Arizona,” he told the news source. “What it has something to do with is states should take care of what the federal government’s not taking care of. That’s their responsibility. … My point is, it isn’t about the issue, it’s about the principle. The principle is you’ve got a state that has problems and the federal government isn’t fixing them.”

LaRussa was only so forthcoming after he was pushed. He initially said he didn’t want to discuss the matter.

One way for foreign nationals to avoid onerous regulations when it comes to immigration is participating in the EB-5 visa program, which allows foreign investors a chance to earn U.S. green cards by investing $1 million in an American business or $500,000 in specially designated low-employment areas.
