EB-5 visa program facilitates visa application process
The EB-5 visa program aims to ease the visa application process for investors, and consequently bring jobs to the U.S. economy.
The central idea behind the EB-5 visa program is that making green cards more available to foreign investors will improve the U.S. economy by cutting down on the number of highly-specialized jobs lost to other countries with less stringent visa requirements.
Representative Jared Polis of Colorado told BBC News, “Every day the American economy is losing ground – not to mention high-tech jobs and technologies – to India and China because foreign-born entrepreneurs cannot secure a visa to stay in the U.S.”
The EB-5 visa program hopes to form a symbiotic relationship between foreign investors who wish to live and work in the U.S. and American businesses that benefit from their investments.
One Canadian entrepreneur, 22-year-old Eric Diep, told the news source that the more accommodating visa regulations under the EB-5 program is extremely attractive to young workers.
Diep, a developer of social gaming systems, like applications on iPhones and Facebook, said that without a college degree, it was extremely difficult for him to obtain a U.S. visa. As a result he was forced to travel between his Canada home and work in Silicon Valley to make a business.
