Immigration and startups can stimulate job creationSeveral new reports on job creation in America reveal that the two institutions supported by the EB-5 visa program – immigration and startup businesses – are the most influential in sparking job growth in the U.S.

A joint study from McGill University and the National Bureau of Economic Research has found that immigrants who entered the U.S. on temporary work or student visas have outperformed college graduates from the U.S. in fostering successful companies, TheStreet.com reports.

To compound that assessment, a recent report by the research organization the Kauffman Foundation, determined that a group of companies called “gazelles” – three to five year old businesses – are responsible for about 10 percent of job growth, despite the fact that they comprise less than 1 percent of all companies.

The EB-5 visa program uses these two powerful tools for economic growth in order to spur job creation in local economies.

Under the program, foreign investors are matched with EB-5 investment opportunities in order to bring capital to the young companies that are best suited for job creation, in the areas around the country that need new jobs the most.

As Congress considers expanding the program to allow foreign entrepreneurs access to U.S. green cards, the program continues to draw increasingly more attention from investors and U.S. businesses alike.
