Immigration issue takes center stage at Fresno State University meetingAccording to the Fresno Bee, tempers flared recently at a Fresno State University student government meeting, with differing opinions on the student body president's illegal immigration status.

In November, president Pedro Ramirez publicly admitted to being an illegal immigrant who was brought to the U.S. at the age of three, the news source said.

The announcement gave way to national media attention to the university as well as a debate at the meeting that caused three people to be asked to leave the campus for being disruptive, according to police.

One student at the meeting suggested an investigation take place into charges that Ramirez allegedly posted anti-American messages on social media networks and had worked illegally. After the meeting, Ramirez told the news provider that he hadn't yet had time to examine the complaints and he denied the claim that he was un-American, according to the news provider.

Foreign nationals looking to become eligible to obtain a U.S. green card can do so through the EB-5 visa program. Through this program, foreigners can obtain eligibility by investing $1 million (or in some areas $500,000) in an American project or company that leads to either the creation or maintenance of at least 10 full-time jobs.
