Immigration key issue in Kansas electionImmigration has become a central issue in the race for Kansas Secretary of State.

Specifically, the question of whether or not alleged voter fraud perpetrated by corrupt politicians and illegal immigrants is a problem in the Sunflower State, according to the Kansas City Star.

Republican candidate Kris Kobach believes it does and said that new voting rules and investigations into reports of voting irregularities need to take place.

“Voter fraud has become a very significant reality in our state,” Kobach said. “Every time someone’s vote is canceled out by a vote that is cast fraudulently, that’s a civil rights violation.”

Democratic incumbent Chris Biggs said that his opponent was making something out of nothing.

Biggs said that the real problem with voting in Kansas is voter apathy.

Regardless of how the Kansas Secretary of State shakes out, foreign nationals can become lawful citizens through the federal EB-5 visa program. Under this program, foreign investors who invest $1 million (or in some areas, $500,000) become eligible for U.S. green cards if their investment leads to the creation or preservation of 10 jobs.
