Kobe takes stance on immigration?Kobe Bryant is known for many things: his four NBA titles, his 2008 Most Valuable Player award and his utter ruthlessness when it comes to dispatching opponents on the hardwood. One thing that he is not known for is making political statements. But that might be exactly what the Los Angeles Laker guard did when he showed up to practice a day before the NBA Finals in a shirt that read, “Los Lakers.”

The Orange County Register reported that the 12-time NBA All-Star showed up to the Lakers’ practice Wednesday wearing a Los Lakers sweatshirt. Earlier in the playoffs, the Lakers played the Phoenix Suns, who for one game wore their “Los Suns” uniforms, which had originally been used for Hispanic appreciation night, in protest of the recently passed immigration law in Arizona.

Now some are speculating that Bryant may be following the lead of Steve Nash and other Phoenix players in taking a stand against the controversial immigration law. Whether Bryant is making a statement or just grabbed the shirt on top of the pile, he will have to face the Boston Celtics as the NBA Finals get underway.

Participants in the EB-5 visa program won’t have to worry about Arizona’s immigration law because they can earn their green cards by investing in U.S. businesses.
