Obama vows to not walk away from immigration reformPresident Barack Obama recently admitted that he was disappointed that he has not yet instituted the immigration reform that he promised during his 2008 presidential campaign but vowed that action was coming.

Speaking at a gala dinner for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Obama promised that immigration reform was coming, reports Reuters.

“Now, I know that many of you campaigned hard for me, and understandably you’re frustrated that we have not been able to move this over the finish line yet. I am too,” he said. “But let me be clear: I will not walk away from this fight. My commitment is getting this done as soon as we can. We can’t keep kicking this challenge down the road.”

During his speech Obama blamed the Republicans for blocking efforts to pass reform. The GOP has claimed that America’s borders need to be secured before any immigration reform can occur.

Many evangelical Christians, typically staunch conservatives, have joined the push for immigration reform in recent months, according to CNN.

Regardless of immigration reform, foreign nationals can become permanent U.S. residents by participating in the EB-5 visa program.
