Senators look to address immigration reform this yearRepublican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democrat Chuck Schumer are reportedly teaming up once again to see if immigration reform can be addressed this year, according to Politico.

The news provider reports that the two senators have focused on members of Congress who could potentially serve as a "safety net" of support, including House and Senate members from both parties.

"It’s in the infant stage," Graham told the news source. "I don’t know what the political appetite is to do something."

In an article that the two senators wrote in the Washington Post last year, they explained that "Americans overwhelmingly oppose illegal immigration and support legal immigration. Throughout our history, immigrants have contributed to making this country more vibrant and economically dynamic."

Whether or not strict immigration reform legislation is enacted in the U.S., foreign nationals still have the opportunity to obtain a green card through the federal EB-5 visa program. To do so, foreigners must make an investment of $1 million (or $500,000 in some areas) in an American company or project that creates or maintains at least 10 full-time jobs.
