Tire company promotes EB-5 visa program during China visitIn late March, members of the Grant County Economic Council traveled to China in order to encourage foreign investment under the EB-5 visa program for a U.S. tire company looking to open a business near Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

The trip, financed by Washington Tire, arranged for Mike Wren, manager of the Ephrata port and Terry Brewer, executive director of the development council to meet with potential EB-5 visa applicants, the Columbia Basin Herald reports.

Wren told the news source that the trip represented “a great opportunity,” and said that, “If we’re successful, Washington Tire would be receiving investment capital from individual and businesses in China.”

If the facility opens in Ephrata, the Washington Tire expects to employ more than 2,000 people, according to the Herald.

During the trip, Wren and Brewer planned to inform the investors about the port’s properties and resources, and explain the details of the EB-5 visa program, in which foreign investors can obtain U.S. residency by investing at least $500,000 in a U.S. company.

In addition, Wren said he thought that state Senators Janea Holmquist and Jerome Delvin would visit China later this spring to further promote the EB-5 program.
